Clinical educator for Cardiology
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 clinical educator within cardiology across the Acute Cardiac Unit and ward 6a in the Royal Liverpool Hospital site, the successful candidate will provide education, training, and support to the nursing teams. A large part of the role will be clinically focused ward based training in order to deliver and maintain excellent standards of care, from basic nursing skills to advanced clinical practise.
We are looking for someone who is motivated to deliver education and training in a clinical setting and has an understanding of the different methods and styles for teaching and learning. The role will involve supporting and developing staff to ensure our patients receive excellent quality care. Applicants must have substantial post qualification experience of acute cardiology care to patients as well as experience in teaching, supervising and assessing. This an ideal opportunity to use your experience, knowledge and skills to provide education and support to our nursing team and be part of developing this new and exciting role.
Main duties of the job
Teach (through various mediums) and observe practice in the Cardiology clinical areas (admissions unit, level 2 high dependency unit and cardiology ward) - provide feedback to improve techniques and communication skills
To create, and deliver theory sessions on a number of Cardiology topics and competencies to new starters and established staff
To teach and observe a range of practical clinical skills from basic nursing skills to advanced clinical practise
Contribute to inter-professional teachings
Assist with the planning and organisation of new starters/ MDT student off duty and professional development.
Assist with the planning and organisation of the nurses attending Further Education Institutes
Maintain clinical competence, skills and knowledge by regularly working with a range of Cardiology patients.
Assist staff to obtain an accredited level of training within Practice and Professional Development by completing relevant university modules.
Regularly review/update teaching materials - amend as indicated by evidence/research.
Participate in wider education activities within the cardiology department.
Maintain competency records to an excellent standard to provide assurance

The post holder will be responsible for Practice and Professional Development within the Cardiology directorate. The role is multifaceted but its primary functions are:
To develop new and maintain staff competencies through the use of theory and clinical training experiences
To support the further professional development of permanent staff members
To support and develop the MDT students based in Cardiology
To introduce new practices and equipment into the Unit
As this role has been newly created we are looking for an innovative and dynamic individual to develop the role and the hours may be flexible to deliver real time teaching in the clinical area.
