We have a fantastic opportunity for a Newly Qualified Solicitor – minimum of 6 months experience of litigation, (ideally contentious probate but not essential) to join our Litigation Team based in Huddersfield or, (Barnsley, Leeds or South Elmsall).
Your Role
The prime role of a solicitor is to undertake fee‑earning work, encourage and promote the image and ethos of the firm and to adhere to agreed practice and procedure as determined.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* To assist with Client work as allocated by the Solicitor in charge of the Litigation Team in accordance with the detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the firm’s Office Manual.
* To ensure all Client work is progressed expeditiously and that the Client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs.
* To exercise high standards of Client care at all times in a professional and pleasant manner.
* To ensure the confidentiality and security of all the firm’s and Client documentation and information.
* To achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
* To comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules and the rules on Professional Conduct of Solicitors.
* To maintain clear and precise communications with other personnel of the firm.
* To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
* As requested, to support, develop and supervise immediate support staff.
* To take responsibility for and attend to training and self-development.
* In conjunction with the firm to comply with the relevant training requirements of the Law Society and to assist with in‑house training as may be required.
* In liaison with the Partners to be active in promoting the services of the firm and its image.
* To undertake any reasonable task as requested.
* Day‑to‑day handling of a wide variety of cases.
* Experiencing of running own case load and being able to pick up cases partway through.
* Conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
* Work as part of the team.
Person Specification – Key Skills/qualifications Required
* A minimum of 6 months experience of Litigation (ideally contentious probate but not essential)
* Admitted to the Solicitors’ Roll
* Commitment to the ethos, values and strategy of the firm.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Computer and Word processing skills essential
