Job Title: Head Chef
Location: Rural Members' Club (Driving Licence Required)
Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week
Pay: £16.00–£20.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead the kitchen at our established members' club. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is passionate about food, thrives in a team environment, and is excited by the opportunity to build, develop, and lead a strong kitchen team.
Due to our rural location, a full driving licence and access to transport are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality and presentation
* Design, develop, and maintain menus appropriate for a members' club environment
* Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff, building a reliable and effective team
* Manage kitchen rotas to ensure adequate cover, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays
* Oversee stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
* Maintain strict food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen compliance at all times
* Control food costs and minimise waste while maintaining quality
* Work closely with management to support events, functions, and member expectations
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen leadership role
* Strong leadership skills with a genuine desire to build and develop a team
* Ability to work weekends, evenings, and bank holidays as required
* Full UK driving licence (essential due to rural location)
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* A positive, proactive attitude and strong work ethic
* Level 2 Food Hygiene (or willingness to obtain)
