Communications and Social Media Assistant
Belfast, The BetMcLean Oval. THE EMPLOYER IS: GLENTORAN FOOTBALL CLUBThe Communications and Social Media Assistant will support the club’s media and communications activities, helping to promote the club and engage supporters across a range of digital platforms. This role offers hands‑on experience in content creation, digital marketing, and communications within a professional sporting environment. The postholder will assist with creating, editing, and scheduling social media content across the club’s digital channels, ensuring content is tailored appropriately for each platform. They will support matchday communications by contributing to pre‑match build‑up, live updates, key moments, and post‑match reaction. The role will also involve drafting match previews and match reports for the club website and digital channels, ensuring all content is accurate, clear, and reflects the club’s tone of voice. This post is a flexible post with working hours based on weekly match schedule. A weekly schedule will be provided 1 week in advance.
Responsibilities
* Create, edit and schedule social content across club channels, tailored per platform.
* Support matchday comms: build‑up, live updates, key moments and post‑match reaction.
* Draft match previews and match reports for the website and digital channels, ensuring accuracy and tone.
* Capture photo and short‑form video at matches/training/events, with basic editing where required.
* Update and maintain the club website and digital platforms with timely, on‑brand content.
* Assist with content planning and weekly calendars under supervision.
* Monitor engagement and help produce simple performance insights and recommendations.
* Support community management by responding to enquiries and escalating sensitive issues.
* Assist with day‑to‑day club communications across departments.
Skills and Qualifications
* Interest in communications, media, or social media.
* Basic understanding of social media platforms.
* Ability to follow brand guidelines and instructions.
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
* Willingness to learn and take feedback.
* Experience creating content for social media (personal or professional).
* Basic photography or video skills.
* Familiarity with social media scheduling tools.
* Basic knowledge of digital marketing or analytics.
* Interest in sport, media, or communications as a career.

The Employer is: GLENTORAN FOOTBALL CLUB JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information- Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.- Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.- Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
