Job Description:
Responsible for supervising and managing the operation of the installation’s marine systems and associated equipment in accordance with design, UKCS legislation, classification society rules, and flag state legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the installation’s marine systems with minimal environmental impact.
* Ensure thorough knowledge of the operating safety case and performance standards to maintain asset integrity.
* Act as the Responsible Person/Area Authority for all operations in the Marine Department requiring a work permit, ensuring safety precautions are taken.
* Identify risks in marine systems and establish procedures to mitigate them.
* Ensure all personnel understand safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policies, and instructions.
* Communicate closely with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
* Provide guidance on safe working practices in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS).
* Maintain accurate records, manuals, and drawings, updating and distributing them as needed.
* Review compliance with the SMS and update documentation accordingly.
* Ensure compliance with performance standards.
* Operate the installation following marine procedures.
* Liaise with Production and Maintenance Supervisors for safe operations and environmental compliance.
* Manage safe isolation and reinstatement of process equipment following maintenance.
* Guide staff on safe marine operations.
* Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor on planned maintenance and report non-compliances.
* Complete marine logs, vessel movements, weather reports, and tank content reports accurately.
* Coordinate with onshore logistics for vessel routing and requirements.
* Communicate with the Deck Foreman regarding vessel, helicopter, and tanker operations.
* Plan fuel loading procedures.
* Maintain inspection plans for tanks and ensure compliance with RBI and verification requirements.
* Operate and maintain mooring and offtake systems.
* Ensure load and offload plans comply with stability manuals.
* Supervise Marine Control Room Operators and ensure systems operate within design parameters.
* Maintain crane and helicopter records, including refuelling.
* Perform additional tasks as required.
People/Department Management Responsibilities:
Provide oversight, guidance, and supervision within the department.
* Conduct regular personnel appraisals and identify training needs.
* Manage conduct and behaviour.
* Ensure attendance at safety and operational meetings.
* Monitor workloads and progress.
* Manage onboard resources to promote efficiency and flexibility.
