Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Stoma Care Clinical Nurse Specialist at Scunthorpe General Hospital. The position is 30 hours per week over 4 days with the requirement to work flexibly over Monday - Friday to ensure consistent provision of stoma care service.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with recent and relevant experience in stoma care along with at least 3 years colorectal and surgical experience. You will work independently as a lone worker and also interact within a wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be an integral part of the colorectal team and will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient-focused care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. They will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process and will need excellent communication and organisational skills. The post offers opportunities to enhance and expand experience in stoma care, and to make a significant difference to patients undergoing life-changing surgery. The pathway involves pre- and post-operative counselling, support and education to patients and their families/carers.
Main duties
* Directly deliver Stoma care to patients based on current evidence across settings (e.g., home, OPD, ward) to provide a flexible service responsive to patient and family/carer needs.
* Provide support and specialist nursing advice across the Trust to clinical colleagues in complex cases.
* Support the delivery of high-quality stoma care by improving knowledge and skills of first-line staff through education Trust-wide and on an individual basis.
* Follow the patient\'s journey into the community, in nurse-led clinics undertaking regular reviews of patient products to ensure suitability.

Essential Qualifications
* Level 1 Registered Nurse. nt teaching/ facilitation qualification or experience.
* Evidence of working towards a Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
* Evidence of in-depth post-registration development in the relevant field (e.g., Foundation Course in Stoma Care, ENB 998 or equivalent teaching/facilitation qualification or experience).
* Current driving licence and own transport.

* 2 years current experience within the field at Band 6 equivalent or above
