The opportunity - Senior Project Planner (P6) - Suffolk (based on site 3-4 days per week) Project: Sizewell C - Building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK to secure a low-carbon energy future. The SZC project is a diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing for construction of the power station. With the construction of Hinkley Point C successfully underway, our client is now developing plans to build an identical power station on the Suffolk coast, known as Sizewell C (SZC). Mace has been supporting on the development of the Sizewell C project since 2011 and continues to act as a key framework supplier under a variety of workstreams. To support project managers in the delivery of projects by providing high level planning service for the preparation of project plans, producing baseline scheduled tasks, resource profiles and financial models. The successful person will be involved in improving the consistency, predictability and efficiency of the programmes project delivery capability and provides leadership in best practices and is highly customer-focused - outward and upward and that these are consistent with customer expectations. The role will ensure that the operational issues of the project controls and PMO are managed, focusing on the project interface with project leaders, project managers, project teams, and interface issues. Your responsibilities will include: Leads application of specific planning/scheduling methods, techniques and tools. Good working knowledge of planning/scheduling, EVM, project controls methodologies Ability to advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively. Able to manage planning/scheduling delivery of medium/high complexity projects/programmes. Ability to play key role in multidisciplinary teams and take lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques. Leads and manages a team of professionals delivering planning/schedule management services and responsible for staff development. Excellent written communication skills, clear & concise; As a planning / schedule management specialist, stays up to date with key industry / professional trends; In depth knowledge of schedule management tools & software Able to provide effective & timely advice to clients; Understanding of data management; Clearly understands role & future career paths available from that position; Excellent attention to detail & able to validate & check schedule management inputs, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary & analysis; Manages Assistant and Planning Managers where required by the scale of the project Persuading and influencing colleagues Influences client to accept proposals and recommendations Satisfying customer requirements Tackling problems that don't have an obvious solution Delegating tasks to others Selling the business and winning work Creating and delivering persuasive presentations to large audiences Spotting and developing talented individuals
