Our Business

Fairport Tunnelling Technologies (FTT) became a newly established division of Fairport Engineering Limited in 2021. Fairport Engineering Limited have now been acquired by pxGroup and as a result FTT has now become pxFairport.

We are an Engineering and Projects Delivery business specialising in the design, installation, management and consultancy of bulk material handling systems across a number of sectors, with specific expertise in tunnelling, aggregates and ports. With long standing industry expertise, our recent history includes successfully delivering projects in the UK, Europe and Asian markets.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring all goods and services are delivered on time, within budget and to the required levels of quality. This is a new role due to business growth and is both operational and strategic.

Day to day focus on meeting the Quality, Cost, Scope, Delivery (Schedule) and requirements as defined by the projects master schedule.

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the entire procurement lifecycle; from the initial identification of a supplier, through contract negotiation and ensuring the purchased item(s) or service(s) is delivered on time and to the correct specification and quality.

Price, payment, and delivery terms may be negotiated on a contract to contract basis. The Supply Chain Manager must understand how purchasing can impact cashflow at both project and business level. Commercial understanding and strong negotiation skills are essential, as is understanding the market value of key commodities such as structural steel, fabricated and/or mechanical assemblies, as well as understanding global shipping costs, lead times and import/export processes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Requirements:

* Extensive procurement experience, preferably in construction or fast-paced heavy engineering/process sectors.
* A relentless drive for cost reduction without compromising on quality or service.
* Experience of working to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 requirements.
* Understanding of EN standards related to fabricated structures (EN1090)
* An understanding of project related documentation requirements, such as MRB, ITP etc.
* Understanding of technical specifications and requirements – with an ability to read/understand technical specifications and drawings.
* Strong MS Office package skills – particularly Excel, must be an advanced/competent user.
* Demonstratable experience of creating and managing procurement delivery using KPIs.
