Job Description:
Job title: Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Coventry (2/3 days minimum on site per week). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements—please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
2. Work with stakeholders to oversee the delivery of the vehicle control solution and strategy.
3. Support assurance activities in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Engineer.
4. Coordinate with the engineering manager to deliver the vehicle control system using agile methodologies.
5. Ensure timely delivery of the engineering plan.
6. Guide and instruct on engineering methods and processes.
7. Develop technical solutions with the engineering delivery team and foster team development.
8. Engage with legacy stakeholders to develop solutions from existing baselines.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Experience in developing C&I designs for large-scale systems meeting various standards.
2. Managing non-functional requirements like EMC and shock for industrial compliance.
3. Authoring/review of design documents such as I/O schedules, specifications, interface control documents.
4. Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
5. Understanding control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
6. Experience with IEC 61508 or similar functional safety standards and supporting evidence.
7. Experience with maneuvering systems across industries.
