We’re seeking a Trustee with digital marketing and social media experience to help grow the visibility of our animal welfare charity. You’ll support digital campaigns, audience engagement, analytics, and online growth to help increase awareness, support, and community impact.
What difference will you make?
As a trustee with digital marketing and social media experience, you will play an important role in helping the branch strengthen its public profile, improve community engagement, and increase awareness of the services and support we provide.
Your input will help the board better understand how digital platforms, analytics, and online campaigns can support the long‑term growth and sustainability of the charity. This includes helping us reach new audiences, improve supporter engagement, strengthen fundraising and retail promotion, and increase visibility for our animal welfare, education, and community support initiatives.
As the branch continues to expand its preventative and community‑focused work, effective digital communication will be essential in helping us engage with local communities, promote responsible pet ownership, recruit volunteers, and encourage support for our services.
Your contribution will help ensure the organisation is making the best possible use of digital tools and social media to increase impact, strengthen sustainability, and support more animals and pet owners across our area.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a trustee with experience in digital marketing, social media management, communications, or online audience engagement, who can help support the branch’s growing focus on digital visibility and community engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience of developing or supporting digital campaigns, understanding audience engagement and analytics, and using social media or digital platforms to increase awareness, engagement, or income generation. Experience with content planning, campaign strategy, digital growth, or online fundraising would also be beneficial.
We are particularly interested in someone who can think strategically and help the board understand how digital tools and online communication can support the long‑term growth and sustainability of the branch. This may include helping identify opportunities to improve our digital presence, strengthen supporter engagement, and better promote our services, retail operations, fundraising activity, and education initiatives.
Alongside relevant professional experience, we are looking for someone who can contribute positively to board discussions, work collaboratively with others, and bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the organisation.
Previous trustee or charity governance experience is welcome but not essential. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference for animals and the communities we support.

What will you be doing?
Our board is made up of trustees with experience across governance, operations, finance, and HR, who work closely with a small staff team and volunteers to support the continued development and sustainability of the branch.
Over recent years, the branch has undergone significant growth and transformation. Alongside our core animal welfare work, we have strengthened our retail operations, expanded community support initiatives, and launched an education programme focused on empathy, responsible pet ownership, and the prevention of cruelty and neglect towards animals. As the branch continues to grow, one of our key priorities is increasing public awareness, improving community engagement, and strengthening our digital presence to support fundraising, volunteering, retail, and service delivery.
We are therefore seeking a trustee with digital marketing and social media experience to help guide and support this area of development at a strategic level. This role will help the board better understand how digital platforms, analytics, and online engagement can be used to increase awareness of our work, reach new supporters, and strengthen long‑term sustainability.
The successful trustee will work alongside the board and senior management team to help shape digital marketing direction and identify opportunities to improve online visibility, audience engagement, and campaign effectiveness. This may include supporting the development of digital campaigns, reviewing analytics and audience insights, helping improve communication strategies, and contributing ideas around social media growth and community engagement.
As a small but ambitious branch, we are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing local charity. There is significant opportunity for this role to make a meaningful impact, particularly as we continue developing new community and education initiatives and look at how digital engagement can support long‑term growth and increased support for animals and pet owners across our area.
Our board works closely and collaboratively with the management team, and trustees are encouraged to contribute their knowledge and ideas in areas where they can add value. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to use their digital and marketing knowledge to support a cause that makes a direct difference within local communities.
