Overview
Are you looking for a position where you can make a real difference locally within Cambridgeshire?
Are you passionate about improving local services and policy at Cambridgeshire County Council? Cambridgeshire County Council is on an ambitious journey to embed a culture where evidence and insight drive decisions that improve services and change lives. We’re looking for a Performance & Intelligence Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering that vision. Reporting to the Head of Policy, Performance & Intelligence, you’ll be the key link between our intelligence team and the organisation more widely. The role sits within Cambridgeshire County Council’s newly formed Policy, Performance & Intelligence Team, a team of 50 individuals who provide data, analysis insight and policy expertise to support the operational management and strategic planning of services.
We are a family-friendly employer and will be happy to negotiate working arrangements to achieve a good work / life balance. The role is available on a permanent basis with the option of flexibility from full-time to a minimum 30 hours per week, with a provision for home working.
Please refer to the person specification when completing your supporting statement, as applications will be shortlisted against the required experience, knowledge, and skills of the role.
For more information or an informal discussion, please contact Rachel Hallam, Head of Policy, Performance & Intelligence, at Rachel.Hallam@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.
What will you be doing?
As a Performance and Intelligence Manager (Corporate Insight) you will be responsible for:
* Embedding a collaborative, evidence-led culture across the council and key partnerships.
* Designing and delivering high-quality corporate performance reporting and managing a corporate dataset.
* Resident engagement activities and contextual information about the people and place of Cambridgeshire.
* Helping shape our digital and data future — from a business intelligence perspective, providing advice on better systems and data maturity of the organisation.
* Leading a team of analysts, fostering innovation, and developing their skills.
* Acting as a senior adviser on data, performance and insight, influencing decisions at the highest levels.
About you
We are looking for an individual to champion performance, intelligence and analytics excellence across the organisation. You’ll bring:
* Strong skills in data analysis, forecasting, modelling, and presentation.
* A track record of influencing strategic decision-making through evidence and insight.
* Experience in developing and monitoring performance frameworks.
* Knowledge of local government datasets, statutory reporting, and inspection requirements.
* The ability to translate complex data into compelling stories for decision-makers.
Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this role, as the postholder will be required to present complex and sometimes technical information in appropriate forms for a wide range of audiences.
