Job Purpose
Health, Safety and Wellbeing is critical to everything we do at United Utilities, and our Home Safe and Well activity is the core of our business. This role is part of our Safety Leadership Team, responsible for managing our high-performing team of H&S Business Partners to support and challenge delivery of best-in-class H&S performance in UU operational activities. Responsibilities include:
* Collaborating with the Head of Health and Safety Delivery and Operational Directors to develop and implement H&S plans that lead to sustainable improvements aligned with UU H&S strategy and risk profiles
* Identifying and escalating critical H&S issues to Operational Directors and H&S Leadership for support and intervention
* Working with the H&S Delivery team to develop strategies and improvement programs based on operational needs
* Developing the competence and capacity of the Operational H&S team and nurturing talent
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Participating in Operational Leadership meetings and field visits to support H&S policy implementation and improvements
* Analyzing health, safety, and wellbeing data to identify improvement opportunities
* Providing advice and coaching managers and colleagues on H&S requirements and leadership behaviors
* Ensuring effective investigation of H&S incidents
* Sharing lessons learned from incidents through engagement, roadshows, and team briefs
* Mentoring H&S team members through performance reviews and development plans
Technical Skills & Experience
* Proven record of improving health, safety, and wellbeing, with understanding of behavioral safety practices
* Strong investigation and root cause analysis skills
* Influencing, coaching, and negotiation skills with senior leadership
* Experience in communicating and presenting to senior management
* Line management experience including coaching and mentoring

Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Health, Safety, and/or wellbeing
* Chartered Safety Professional (CMIOSH)
