Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a HV Systems Requirement Engineerto be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
The Systems Simulation Engineer will be responsible for leading system engineering and simulation efforts for Electrified Powertrain (ePT) components. This role involves defining and developing HV system simulation tools, implementing key features for BEV and hybrid vehicles, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.
Area of Responsibility
* Define and implement system engineering tools to support future BEV and hybrid vehicle development.
* Communicate with Aston Martin's Integration team to identify required features for each vehicle and build phase.
* Decompose and cascade system requirements to ePT sub-system teams, ensuring tangible and actionable outcomes.
Simulation Development & Validation:
* Develop MATLAB/Simulink models for HV system simulations and feature implementation.
* Create models in Simulink/Simscape to simulate components and HV system behavior.
* Lead simulation-driven validation efforts to optimize electrothermal and functional performance.
* Work closely with internal teams including Integration, Electrical Engineering, and HV component teams.
* Represent systems engineering requirements across vehicle line managers (VLMs).
* Support future team expansion efforts by fostering a collaborative and skilled simulation team.
Management Breadth:
This role requires independent time management but does not involve managing other personnel.
Problem Solving & Accountability:
The ideal candidate should take initiative in solving complex system simulation challenges and lead technical developments within the team.
Compliance & Constraints:
The candidate must adhere to customer’s global engineering standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, certifications, and market requirements for Powertrain Electrification systems in BEV and PHEV vehicles.
Key Experience:
* Expertise in Powertrain Electrification systems for BEV or PHEV vehicles.
* Strong background in system engineering for HV applications, preferably in MATLAB or Capella.
* Advanced proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, with System Composer knowledge as a bonus.
* Experience in system integration, validation, and testing of electrified powertrain components.
* Hands-on experience with both low-voltage and high-voltage electrical/electronic systems.
* CAN troubleshooting expertise.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience in high-performance automotive Powertrain Electrification systems.
* Understanding of electrification system attributes at vehicle, system, and component levels.
* Track record of delivering Powertrain Electrification systems to production.
* Expertise in system interfaces, validation methods, and design best practices.
* Familiarity with automotive powertrain electrical, electronic, and mechanical integration.
* Requirements software experience (Doors, Polarion).
* Knowledge of CAD tools (NX, CATIA).
