Who We Are
Mumsnet is the UK's leading community for parents, with unparalleled trust and influence and a highly engaged, loyal user base. We're purpose-driven, placing our users at the heart of everything we do and we're committed to sustainable growth and fostering a workplace where everyone can thrive and have fun.
The Role
This is a senior individual contributor role reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer. You will own a portfolio of high‑value brand partnerships and be responsible for driving material revenue growth — both by deepening existing relationships and winning new strategic partners.
This role won't be managing a team; instead you'll be expected to be our most senior direct salesperson. You will need to be able to build and cultivate lasting relationships with Marketing Directors and drive long‑term revenue growth from these relationships.
This role requires proactive commercial ownership and strategic thinking. You will move beyond campaign execution to reframe and redesign partnerships to unlock step‑change growth from our most important clients.
You'll work collaboratively across the commercial team, with access to our market‑leading insights and sales collateral, but your remit is your own: a defined portfolio of Gold Partners and prospective large accounts, with the autonomy and authority to develop them as you see fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strategic Partnership Growth
* Own a portfolio of 10+ Gold Partner accounts, with a clear revenue target
* Identify where existing partnerships are under‑leveraged and reshape them to unlock step‑change growth, moving beyond campaign execution to solving the commercial problem
* Diagnose why a partnership is not growing and propose a clear, commercially grounded plan to unlock additional spend
* Build bespoke, always‑on partnership propositions tailored to each client's objectives, audience needs and budget cycle
New Business Development
* Identify, approach and convert major FMCG, grocery, retail and parenting brands into new Gold Partner relationships
* Build and execute outbound strategies using audience insight, category knowledge and market intelligence
* Cultivate long‑term relationships with senior marketing leaders at major clients, offering value at every stage
* Own your pipeline end to end: prospecting, qualification, proposal, negotiation, close and renewal
* Maintain rigorous CRM hygiene, pipeline discipline and accurate forecast inputs
Senior Client Leadership
* Operate confidently at Marketing Director and Head of Brand level, leading strategic commercial conversations — not just responding to briefs
* Challenge client assumptions where needed, reallocate budget based on insight, and position Mumsnet as an always on strategic partner
* Lead on strategy and creativity for pitches, translating client objectives into partnership ideas that span awareness and performance
Collaboration & AI Integration
* Collaborate closely with Planning, Editorial, Product and Marketing to shape compelling, differentiated proposals
* Embed AI in your workflow to improve account research, audience insight, proposal development and pipeline management
* Contribute to the commercial team's collective standard, raising the quality of proposals, pitches and client engagement, and distilling best practices across the team
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
We care the most about your commercial sharpness, relationship depth and the ability to operate at the highest level.
Essential
* Proven success in brand partnerships, media sales, or senior commercial roles at a publisher, agency or brand
* A black book of Marketing Director and Head of Brand relationships at major UK advertisers, particularly in FMCG, grocery and retail
* Demonstrable track record of growing partnership revenue significantly - not just maintaining accounts, but driving step‑change growth
* Proof that you can be an always‑on partner for major brands, offering strategic value to them outside of specific campaigns
* Comfortable building and selling bespoke, high‑value (£100k-£500k+ ) commercial propositions from scratch
* Strong commercial judgement: pricing, product mix, prioritisation and knowing when to walk away
* Highly self‑starting with a drive to exceed targets rather than meet them
* Operational discipline: CRM, pipeline management, forecasting
* Clear alignment with Mumsnet’s purpose and values
Desirable
* Experience selling into parenting, family or health categories
* Fluency with AI tools to enhance sales productivity (research, proposals, insight generation)
* Experience working in a scale‑up or entrepreneurial media business
What This Role Is Not
This is not an account management role focused on delivery and campaign execution. If your strength is running campaigns to plan and managing existing relationships reactively, this isn't the right fit.
We need someone who reframes the commercial problem, not just executes the brief. Someone who looks at an under‑leveraged £75k partnership and sees a route to £250k+ — and can build and execute the plan to get there.
This is also not a management role. There are no direct reports. The value is in your personal commercial output and the quality of relationships you build and maintain.
