Quality Control Inspector – Machine shop
Location: Havant (Permanent)
Responsibilities
* Inspect components at various stages of production, including final inspection.
* Raise non-conformances in accordance with the non-conformance process.
* Perform extra duties or special projects when requested.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and related documentation (e.g., Purchase Orders, Concessions).
* Communicate effectively with Quality Assurance and management regarding Quality Control issues.
* Inspect as per current procedures and specifications, and release parts to stores, assembly and packaging areas.
* Record traceability details to assist QA with MDR Quality Packs and Class Visits.
* Apply problem‑solving techniques to support root‑cause analysis and investigations.
* Use various inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges and other dimensional instruments.
* Perform mechanical, visual and dimensional inspections of parts using hand tools.
* Potentially perform CMM programming and inspection (if trained).
* Maintain a safe working environment and high standard of housekeeping.
* Work individually and as part of the logistics team, ensuring compliance with H&S safety procedures.
* Support continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
* Coordinate with the Supply Quality Assurance Engineer on quality issues.
* Attach correct labeling to outside of storage cartons/pallets and manage inventory transactions in the system.
* Communicate with operations teams to ensure proactive actions meet OTIF targets.
Ability to be flexible is key for this position, carrying out a wide variety of duties accurately and safely while meeting our OTIF target.
Qualifications
* Mechanical and electrical component inspection experience.
* Basic mechanical inspection tools and dimensional inspection hand tools.
* Familiarity with FDA, GMP, ISO 13485 standards.
* Experience in a production/engineering environment (essential).
* Understanding of health and safety environment/procedures.
* Mechanical/assembly aptitude.
* Proficient reading and understanding of drawings.
* Minimum of 5 years mechanical inspection experience (desirable).
* Strong communication skills with co‑workers.
* Flexibility to work across logistics operations teams.
* College standard education, mechanical apprenticeship or solid experience in manufacturing industry (ideal).
* Proficiency with industry standard computer packages (Microsoft / MRP systems).
* Good knowledge of SAP.
