The role
As a Software Architect, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the entire software development lifecycle and you are responsible for design, planning, execution and assuring suitability of the SkyNet 6 New Management System (NMS), in accordance with the project delivery lifecycle.
The system provides the management platform to operate satellites for Britain’s global communication for Government services.
Working closely alongside the Lead Systems Test Engineer, Lead Test Engineer, Quality Assurance Team and the Project Manager, the suitable Software Architect will deliver software systems to tight timescales across multiple phases of the project.
The Software Architect will manage a team of Software Engineering resources to help deliver each work package on time. Responsibilities Include:
1. Mobilising and maintaining software development teams to deliver against the requirements of successful bid opportunities.
2. Work closely with Lead Systems and Software Engineers to develop the solution.
3. Work closely with the Lead Test Engineer to verify that the system meets the specification.
4. Work closely with the Quality Team to ensure our solution meets or exceeds the criteria specified by our customer.
5. Acting as Product owner for software delivered into in-service environments.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Hawthorn, Corsham. Majority of the role can be remote.
Essential experience of the Lead Software Engineer
6. You must have hands-on experience with C and C++.
7. You must have experience leading a large Software Team.
