Site Supervisor – Gas Operations

Responsible For: Supervision of gas operations, operational compliance, and adherence to procedures and standards.
Role Overview
The Site Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that site teams carry out work safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK legislation, Gas Industry Standards, industry Codes of Practice, and company processes and procedures.
The role involves supervising operational teams, coordinating project preparation and delivery, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, and acting as the main point of contact for operational issues on site.
Salary & Benefits
Basic Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 depending on experience
Earning Potential: Opportunity to earn £70,000 – £80,000+ through overtime and additional operational work

Key Responsibilities
Operational Supervision
Provide effective supervision of site teams and ensure operational activities are carried out safely and in accordance with procedures.
Monitor operational compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safe working practices.
Act as the escalation point for operational teams regarding on-site issues.
Health, Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
Promote a strong health and safety culture by setting a positive example.
Ensure all personnel understand site hazards and appropriate control measures.
Monitor the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Report hazards, near misses, accidents, and incidents and assist with investigations when required.
Ensure defective equipment is removed from service and documented.
Site Monitoring and Audits
Inspect works, documentation, and site conditions to ensure compliance with standards.
Carry out regular site audits for operational teams.
Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained on site.
Monitor workforce discipline and adherence to procedures.
Communication and Coordination
Maintain effective communication with project managers, operational staff, subcontractors, and clients.
Attend internal and client meetings as required.
Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings where required.
Ensure relevant operational information is communicated clearly to site teams.
Project Preparation and Planning
Review project requirements once work is awarded and identify any specialist services, materials, or licensing requirements.
Ensure approved project designs are in place prior to work commencing.
Assist in preparing project documentation including risk assessments, method statements, and job packs.
Coordinate with administrative staff to ensure required documentation and plans are available before site works begin.
Confirm availability of plant, equipment, and materials prior to project start.
Project Delivery
Allocate work instructions to operational teams and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate with clients and contractors regarding scheduling, site access, and operational requirements.
Manage permit-to-work processes where applicable.
Ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times.
Project Completion
Ensure all work is signed off by the client or that any issues are documented and resolved.
Confirm completion documentation, including as-built records, is prepared and submitted.
Ensure plant and equipment are off-hired appropriately following project completion.
Verify that all documentation is completed before submission to quality assurance teams.
Additional Duties
Support operational management with additional tasks as required.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the operations team.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years operational experience within a relevant utilities or infrastructure environment.
SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.
Gas SHEA and SCO (Safe Control of Operations) certification.
Street Works Supervisor qualification (desirable).
