Our projects are diverse and range from conceptual fire strategy development through to handing over landmark projects, such as the Tate Modern, Macallan distillery, Birmingham New Street Station and the Eden Project. We undertake fire safety research to develop evidence‑based solutions for novel fire safety hazards and strive to improve safety equity for the most vulnerable. We work in partnership with academia and industry, applying a total fire engineering approach, enabling us to work on projects from feasibility to operation. We aim to support a sustainable, resilient built environment using the latest knowledge, our in‑house digital tools and software.
The Opportunity
We are looking for graduates to join our team of talented fire engineers across UK offices. Your role will encompass all aspects of fire safety engineering, from preparing fire strategies in collaboration with the engineering design team to inspection, assessment, and management of fire safety protection measures in existing buildings and facilities.
You will have the opportunity to liaise with external designers and construction professionals, use fire‑specific design software, conduct research across skill groups, and visit sites to monitor implementation of fire strategies and installation of fire safety systems.
From day one, you will contribute to a range of varied, high‑profile clients while being supported in learning about fire engineering and professional development. We encourage all employees to work towards a professional qualification, and you will receive support in this endeavour.
Qualifications
* Master’s or bachelor’s degree with a prediction of a 2:2 or above in a relevant subject necessary to obtain engineering chartership, such as: Fire Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Applied Mathematics.
* Architecture degrees with relevant fire safety modules will also be considered, but the focus of the role is on engineering discipline rather than pure design.
* Excellent written English, able to provide evidence/example of own work if requested.
* Strong numerical skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Creative approach to problem solving.
* Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team.
* Organised approach to work and meeting deadlines.
* Able to use own initiative, be inquisitive and proactive.
