Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - School of Risk and Actuarial Studies
Location: Kensington NSW Australia (Hybrid Flexible Working)
Employment Type: Full time – 35 hour per week
Duration: Tenure Track
Remuneration: Level B from $127,947 and Level C from $155,403 (plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)
This position is based in Sydney Australia. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance may be considered for the preferred candidate.

About the School
The School of Risk & Actuarial Studies has an established international reputation for excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Actuarial Studies, risk management, data analytics, and superannuation and pensions. The school hosts a large actuarial program and conducts world‑leading research in risk, insurance, and related areas.
Why Your Role Matters
The School is seeking to appoint a Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer) to maintain and develop scholarly research and professional activities, contribute to teaching, and engage with university, industry, government, and community roles. The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
As a Lecturer (Level B) you will:
* Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in accordance with disciplinary practice.
* Create scholarly impact recognized by peers in advancing disciplinary knowledge.
* Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision and design research projects.
* Contribute to the development of applications for competitive funding, including participating as co-investigator or chief investigator in grant applications.
* Mentor students and colleagues and contribute to supervision of HDRs.
As a Senior Lecturer (Level C) you will:
* Make independent contributions to research with national recognition.
* Undertake independent research and contribute to professional practice and expertise.
* Develop research groups and establish national networks.
* Obtain research income from nationally competitive grants and associated collaborations.
About You
For Level B you will possess the following skills and experience:
* A PhD in a related discipline (e.g., actuarial studies, economics, econometrics, risk and insurance, quantitative finance, machine learning, or similar).
* Ability to contribute to the school's core research and teaching strengths in actuarial analytics, risk management & insurance, retirement and pensions.
* Commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Proven track record in high-quality research with a record of excellence and potential for leadership.
* Experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Involvement with the profession and/or industry.
* Desirable: post‑doctoral experience or professional actuarial qualifications (e.g., Associateship of the Actuaries Institute).
* For Level C, additional expectations include recruiting and supervising high-calibre students, curriculum development, teaching effectiveness, and ability to interact with the profession and attract funding. Desirable: post‑doctoral experience or professional qualifications such as Fellowship of the Actuaries Institute.
