The Governing Body of Caerleon Comprehensive School, a popular high-achieving school with a student role of 1500, are seeking to appoint a motivated, organised, and hard-working individual to the post of Teaching Assistant to work in our RESET room.
Our Reset Room is a key element of our behaviour management strategy at Caerleon Comprehensive School. We have a conduct code, and as part of this code, learners may be referred to the Reset Room as a sanction for breaking the code. Students may be referred by a classroom teacher, for disrupting learning in lessons, or they may be referred by a head of year or member of the leadership team for something that has happened outside lessons. Our aim is for the Reset Room to be a quiet place of reflection, where students can consider their behaviour, get on with their work, and think about how they could behave differently next time. We are looking for a teaching assistant who enjoys working with students who are facing various challenges or who are simply having a bad day at school. The Reset Support TA will provide essential support for the Reset Manager, the person in charge of running the room.
The Reset TA will support the Reset Manager in:
• Maintaining a quiet and calm environment in the Reset room at all times.
• Ensuring learners have appropriate work at all times - this may involve liaising with teachers, supporting with Chromebook login and online work support, locating relevant hard copy work, ensuring learners self-assess their progress where possible.
• Assisting with required admin tasks – sending emails, answering the phone, using School Comms, using Class Charts.
• Monitoring learners whilst the Reset Manager removes individuals for private support.
• Assisting with building up relevant Reset resources.
• Taking learners for breaks if needed.
• Collecting learners from lessons if needed.
