Regional Engineering Manager
Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland is looking for a Regional Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team of field‑based Engineers across the UK. The role will support Service Engineers, Service Centre and Workshop Managers and focus on driving continuous improvement around safety, people, quality, productivity and equipment availability.
About the Role
Report to the Rental Solutions Regional Director. Key duties include:
* Ensure highest levels of quality and availability of products while maintaining optimum stock levels.
* Prioritise and manage a high‑earning repairs programme, ensuring all assets comply with Health & Safety regulations and service schedules.
* Manage quality improvement initiatives and support the development of a Centres of Excellence model.
* Drive technical skills development and apprenticeship programmes.
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety/Quality Assurance regulations, including statutory training completion.
* Investigate major asset failures, identify trends and conduct root‑cause analysis with stakeholders.
* Plan field service activities for the team, respond to breakdowns, and appoint engineers for cost‑effective solutions while meeting customer SLA’s.
* Appoint third parties when necessary, raise order numbers, and manage the call‑logging system for breakdowns and service, including the Out of Hours rota.

* Proven operational management experience of a large, multi‑site team.
* Excellent planning and organising skills, able to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines.
* Commercial awareness: understands P&L, financial data, cost control and budgeting.
* Ability to source, analyse and present data, and propose actionable recommendations.
* IOSH qualification.
* Valid driving licence; willing to travel within and beyond your region.
* Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing priorities.
* Strong problem‑solving skills for complex business challenges.
