Head of Public Law / Experienced Solicitor

A well-established law firm with a strong South Wales presence is seeking an experienced Public / Administrative Law Solicitor to lead its Public Law team. This is a senior role suited to a solicitor who wants to work on high-quality public law matters without stepping away from the region, combining technical excellence with leadership responsibility.
The Role
The Public Law team undertakes a wide range of public and administrative law work across Wales and England, acting for both individuals and organisations. Matters include:
* Education
* Social care
* Public service change and closure
* Inquests and public inquiries
* Judicial review proceedings, including matters before the High Court
* You’ll have genuine input into the strategic direction of the department, while remaining closely involved in complex casework.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and develop a specialist Public Law team based in South Wales
* Manage complex public law and judicial review matters
* Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency and Lexcel requirements
* Support business development, profile-raising, and sustainable growth
* Maintain consistently high standards of client care
