How you\\\'ll make a differenceAs a Business Support Apprentice, you will be providing detailed and accurate administration support to social workers and managers in our Integrated Children’s Service at South Gloucestershire Council.Our social workers make a real difference, every day they work with families to help children and young people who have had a difficult start in life. Your work helps the team, and the council provide support to these vulnerable children and families in the community. What you will be doingDay to day, you will act as main point of contact for the children’s social care team, taking phone calls and managing the team mailboxes. You will provide administrative support to social workers and managers, ensuring work carried out is efficient and procedures are effectively implemented. You will deal with enquiries and information requests and interact with customers, colleagues and partners to maintain strong working relationships.It will be your responsibility to collate and maintain records and analyse information to ensure accurate statements are produced and data is retrieved from computerised systems and interpreted.The most challenging aspect of your apprenticeship will be learning a wide and varied range of administrative tasks including some financial tasks and assisting with projects.You will have the opportunity to work with and support highly experienced professionals internally and externally i.e. social workers, police, health.Throughout your 18-month apprenticeship, we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support. Your apprenticeship requires weekly day release learning for 12 weeks at South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7AT. What we need from youYou will ideally hold a minimum of GCSE A*-C (or Grade 4-9) or equivalent qualification in English and maths.It would be beneficial to have good IT skills in the use of Microsoft packages, such as Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.You must have the drive and willingness to learn new things and be committed to gaining your qualificationYou should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, being confident to handle contact channels that include telephone, email and face to face situations.Ideally, you will have experience of basic financial procedures e.g. petty cash, invoicing etc. What you need to know All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10-minute presentation as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who do not provide a presentation at interview will not progress through the recruitment process.This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in either Kingswood Hub or Yate Westgate and from home.
