Our client has been established for almost a quarter of a century and is recognised as a UK market leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke solutions for diverse applications, including hazardous environments, medical, robotics, tracking, automotive, mobility, marine, and aerospace. Employing more than 50 people, they supply specifically to OEM companies. Due to continued success and ongoing strategic growth, they are seeking an experienced and proactive Electronic Project Engineer to join their committed and professional team.
Reporting to the Technical Director and based near Ilminster, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, responsible for activities such as:
1. Acting as technical lead for both established products and new product introductions, liaising extensively with customers, suppliers, and internal departments. Excellent communication skills are essential.
2. Assisting in the design, development, research, and selection of electronic components and circuits to protect low voltage DC power solutions, including mechanical housing and enclosures.
3. Supporting the technical development of custom product solutions, ensuring smooth and timely transfer to manufacturing.
4. Providing pre-sales technical assistance for electrical applications.
5. Formulating technical aspects of BOMs and assisting with development and approval of production assembly instructions.
6. Inputting data into the company's ERP system to support the technical department.
7. Assisting with authoring product specifications and instructions, providing after-sales support, and participating in quality investigations.
8. Managing the preparation of technical reports for projects and other departments.
9. Representing the technical team at customer meetings and assisting in gaining approvals and certifications for new products.
10. Developing and conducting product tests, recording results, and reporting any health, safety, or environmental concerns.
In an environment where new equipment and techniques are continuously introduced to meet challenging application requirements, the successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and capable of ensuring on-time, within-budget project delivery. They should be willing to learn, work autonomously, and communicate effectively at all levels.
Proven analytical skills, troubleshooting abilities in electronic behavior or interfaces, and experience with battery communication protocols (e.g., BQ studio) are essential. The candidate should hold a degree in electrical or electronic engineering and understand the impact of current legislation on product development.
