Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Location: Cheshire
Salary: Circa £40,000 (package negotiable)
We are a well-established recycled paper mill with converting departments based in Greater Manchester, employing around 130 people. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a hands-on, ambitious Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join our management team and play a key role in driving this area of the business forward.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional to shape and develop our health, safety, and environmental agenda. The role will be well supported by the wider management team and offers scope for progression, with the potential to expand into HR and recruitment responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage and continuously improve all Health, Safety & Environmental policies, systems, and practices.
* Ensure the business meets its environmental policy commitments and improves environmental performance,
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and company standards.
* Work closely with managers and staff across all departments to promote a strong HSE culture.
* Develop and implement training programmes, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across health, safety, and environmental performance.
* Potential to grow the role into HR and recruitment, supporting people strategy and workforce planning.
* Audit, analysis and report environmental performance to external bodies.
About You
* A graduate or experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager (manufacturing experience desirable).
* Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and best practice.
* Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.
* Ambitious, proactive, and keen to make a real impact.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ideally with NEBOSH diploma.
