About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic SEMH Tutor to deliver high-quality, individualised tuition in Maths and English to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Learners may present with anxiety, low self-esteem, or Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), requiring a calm, personalised, and trauma-informed approach.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and evaluate tailored 1:1 or small group sessions in Maths and English
Build trusting relationships that foster student confidence and engagement
Adapt learning strategies to meet a variety of SEMH needs and learning profiles
Monitor and report on student progress
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or minimum 3 years’ tutoring experience
Proven track record of working with SEMH learners
Strong communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills
Ability to assess and adapt content to individual student needs
Must be local to or able to travel to Wallingford and nearby areas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
