Environmental Officer role at Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard). Due to our expanding fleet, we are recruiting Environmental Officers for 2026 and beyond. You will work with a passionate community of people onboard, visiting different places and gaining experiences that stay with you for a lifetime.
Responsibilities
* Lead by example to ensure all departments are aware of their environmental responsibilities and manage environmental impacts of tasks under your leadership.
* Proactively check, monitor and support shipboard operations to prevent or detect non-compliance with environmental legislation and company policies.
* Train and support shipboard employees to maintain environmental compliance and contribute to ISO14001 and sustainability programs.
* Develop and implement environmental compliance activities, risk assessments, environmental audits and reports as required.
Qualifications
* Served as a Marine Engineering Officer with a minimum rank of 2nd Engineer or higher.
* Served as a Deck Officer with a minimum rank of 2nd Officer or higher.
* Former Navy or Coast Guard engineer with Chief Petty Officer rank or higher.
* Shoreside Engineers with experience operating/maintaining pollution prevention systems on cruise ships, with at least three years of relevant experience and an engineering degree or higher.
* Environmental science related degree with at least three years of relevant industry experience.
You will have management experience and strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to protecting the environment. Experience of environmental compliance, risk assessments, environmental audits, and report writing, combined with a marine technical or engineering background, will support success in this role. Initiative is important to understand what needs to be done and to act with integrity and high standards.
If qualified, you will receive full training and induction, with support to help you succeed onboard. If offered a role, you will be asked to complete STCW Basic Training to prepare for service at sea, with training arrangements provided by our teams.
