About the Role
As a Paraplanner, you will provide comprehensive administrative and technical assistance. Responsibilities include preparing client meeting documentation, suitability reports and application forms, ensuring advice is delivered and processed with accuracy and compliance. You will conduct detailed research to identify appropriate financial solutions from our Centralised Investment Proposition or other market options, aligning them with each client’s needs and objectives. You will draft suitability letters, complete and submit applications, and ensure compliance procedures are followed. You should continuously develop product, technical and regulatory knowledge and stay current with financial regulations. Your attention to detail and compliance will be vital to maintaining high service standards for clients. This role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months and is suitable for candidates nationally, with offices in Cheltenham, Cardiff, Fareham, Newbury, London, Liverpool, Darlington and Harrogate.
About You
You are a detail-oriented and analytical Paraplanner with at least two years of experience in financial planning. You should have understanding of pensions, investments and estate planning, enabling you to research and analyse clients’ financial positions and make informed recommendations aligned with the Financial Planners’ advice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for clear reports and client interactions. You should be familiar with compliance processes and maintain meticulous records in the CRM. You will take ownership of cases from start to finish, ensuring timely processing of applications in line with client and provider expectations.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Analyse the client’s current financial position and, in line with the Financial Planner’s advice and supporting documents, make appropriate recommendations.
* Complete in full a suitability report for the Financial Planner in a timely manner.
* Utilise paraplanner tools (e.g., cashflow and fund analytics) to complete the suitability report and evidence that client objectives are met.
* Ensure all data gathered by Administrators concerning the client’s financial portfolio is complete and up to date.
* Data gather and research new plans as appropriate.
* Maintain records on the CRM system in a clear, accurate and timely manner.
* Submit completed business applications to providers with all required documentation and information.
* Take ownership of the case and monitor progress to ensure timely processing in line with service standards and client requirements.
* Communicate with the client and keep the Financial Planner informed of progress, resolving issues as they arise.
* Ensure all documentation and post are collected, scanned and attached to the client file.
* Discharge all regulatory obligations during engagements with the client.
* Support the business in responding to complaints where applicable.
* Ensure advice files are submitted for full file checks and complete remedial actions as needed.
* Maintain CPD records and a comprehensive knowledge of pensions, investments and estate planning.
* Study and pursue professional qualifications relevant to the role, aiming towards chartered status.
* Undertake ad-hoc project work as required by business needs.
Essential Skills And Experience
* Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning with the CII
* At least 2 years’ experience as a Paraplanner
* Comprehensive knowledge of pensions and investments
* Strong understanding of compliance processes
* Excellent interpersonal, listening, numerical and IT skills
* Strong analytical and research abilities
* Excellent report writing and communication skills
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Experience in the financial services industry, working for an Independent Financial Adviser
* Ability to work on own initiative for extended periods
* Professional, ethical and discreet
* Ability to build and maintain client relationships
* Ability to work well under pressure with high attention to detail
Desirable Skills And Experience
* Minimum 5 GCSEs (A–C/9–4), including Maths and English
* Degree level education
* Experience of Intelliflo
* Advanced Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and Chartered status
Salary and Benefits
£50,000 - negotiable depending on experience and qualification.
