Senior Occupational Therapist – In‑Patient General Rehabilitation

Overview
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team providing inpatient rehabilitation and complex discharge planning in a community hospital setting at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust. The role involves working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, providing holistic and patient‑centred assessment, treatment, and discharge planning, with a strong focus on frailty, dementia and palliative care.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform occupational therapy assessments and deliver interventions for patients across the county.
* Manage an autonomous caseload, including acute, chronic, and complex patients.
* Collaborate with acute teams, community services and social care colleagues.
* Provide training, supervision and support to junior staff, including Band 5 OT and Therapy Assistants.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement and teaching of clinicians and students.
* Act as deputy for the Therapy Team Lead when required.
Person Specification
Experience
* Post‑registration experience in health and social care settings.
* Experience of delegating to qualified and unqualified staff.
* Experience working in community services.
* Experience supervising junior staff.
* Experience with quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses and CPD maintained in a portfolio.
* Required original certificates will be verified at offer.
* Relevant recent clinical courses.
