The Role

We are seeking to appoint outstanding and energetic Child Care Officers for our new purpose-built school in Chelmsford.

Applicants must be enthusiastic, with an understanding of and commitment to children with complex behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties.

Information about the School

Sir Geoff Hurst Academy is a special school offering a nurturing, inclusive environment for 65 pupils with SEMH and associated needs, with residential provision for fifteen pupils. We aim for each child to leave as a confident young adult well prepared for the future. The school is located on the site of the former Rainsford High, where Sir Geoff attended school. Named after Sir Geoff Hurst, the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final when England won in 1966, the school reflects our admiration for his achievements.

The school, situated in central Chelmsford, aims to deliver effective practice and informative teaching to support children and young people in accessing meaningful outcomes and life pathways.

The Beckmead Trust Schools are committed to pupils' academic, physical, social, vocational, and emotional progress. We believe in nurturing all members of the school community in a warm, purposeful, and understandable environment.

The curriculum offers formal, informal, and enriched opportunities for development, enabling graduates to become independent, connected members of their communities and workplaces.

Safeguarding

The Beckmead Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers, as well as those working on the premises, must share this commitment. Appointment is subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance (including physical intervention capability), an enhanced DBS check, and evidence of right to work in the UK. An online search on shortlisted candidates will also be conducted to identify any publicly available incidents or issues.
