As a new registrant you will be supported through our 12-month multi-professional preceptorship programme, by our Preceptorship Lead and in clinical practice by an allocated and experienced clinical practitioner (a preceptor). We will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout your transitional period, while you develop the necessary knowledge and skills in becoming a confident and competent practitioner.
Main duties of the job
As part of the role the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for patients' designated to their care. They will be expected to supervise non-registered staff as stipulated by the NMC under the requirements of the delegation, and always work to the NMC code and Trust policies and procedures.
You will be expected to provide effective leadership and assist with the management and organisation of the ward/department in the absence of the ward manager or junior sister / charge nurse, whilst complying with the Trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.
You must have the ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information be able to work as part of a team as well as the ability to work without supervision. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and leadership skills and be competent in the use of IT such as Microsoft Office.
You must also have a good understanding and knowledge base of national health and social care policy.
