Network Engineer - R&D Infrastructure (Manufacturing) Location: Birmingham Contract: Permanent Salary: £63,000 excellent benefits We are working on behalf of a global healthcare organisation to appoint a Network Engineer into their UK R&D function, based in Birmingham. This is a permanent role supporting infrastructure critical to both scientific research and manufacturing control systems. The successful candidate will take ownership of the stability, performance, and security of all voice, data, video, and wireless network services across the site. This includes infrastructure supporting operational technology (OT) environments, such as SCADA and connected manufacturing equipment. Key Responsibilities: Design, deploy and maintain LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VOIP networks Ensure stable and secure connectivity across R&D and manufacturing infrastructure Monitor network performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues Maintain documentation of network architecture, service records, and configuration Support industrial control networks and connected devices Oversee hardware upgrades, endpoint connectivity, and equipment installation Collaborate with IT, R&D and operational stakeholders to assess capacity and risk Manage network security, backups, audits, and recovery processes Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in enterprise-scale network engineering across LAN/WAN/WLAN Hands-on background supporting manufacturing Strong understanding of network security, capacity planning, and disaster recovery Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, or industrial control system integration Experience with VOIP systems, wireless infrastructure, and endpoint management Competent in hardware troubleshooting and network testing procedures Excellent communication skills and service orientation in user-facing environments Desirable: Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, FMCG, automotive, or regulated manufacturing Exposure to data privacy regulations or validated environments Ability to support Audio/Visual systems and conferencing platforms Apply now
