NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is: Five out of seven days including weekend working.

Within GGH the AHP teams work together supporting each other to ensure we produce high quality care for our patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 physiotherapist to join the Critical Care and Surgical team on a full time permanent basis.

It is essential that you are educated to Diploma/Degree level in physiotherapy while being registered with HCPC.

You should have significant post graduate experience with previous clinical experience in Critical Care and/or Surgical wards.

This post involves a complex and varied caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning. You will be clinically responsible for rotational staff, support worker staff and students, inducting, training and managing staff on a daily basis. You will lead in service development and service change within the team. You will be actively encouraged to develop through your 4 pillars of practice while participating in CPD, audit and research.

You will be required to participate in the physiotherapy emergency on call and weekend rota.

This post requires the post holder to participate in seven day working/extended hours working.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
