Senior Support Worker

The core CAMHS Team work in a busy and dynamic environment, and we pride our self on being leaders in delivering high quality compassionate care to children and young people, while protecting and promoting staff wellbeing and development. The team work with children and young people within Gloucestershire.

For this role it is essential that you have a full UK driving license, and a car- and the role will be a mix of clinic and community work

We are looking for someone who has experience working with children and or young people ideally within a mental health setting.

The successful post holder will be expected to match the ethos of the team, and commit to ongoing personal and service development, while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and compassion.

Main duties of the job

* engaging with children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families
* understanding clinical risk and safeguarding within a healthcare setting
* understanding other difficulties children and young people are facing
* working alongside care coordinators to offer evidenced based interventions often in the community
* work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure children, young people and their families needs are met effectively

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.


Job responsibilities

We are looking for;

* We are seeking a highly enthusiastic and committed mental health, Band 4 senior support worker to join our community based, multi-disciplinary team.
* The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the mental health difficulties experienced by children and young people

* Protected training time working in CAMHS is a specialist and demanding area. We know you will need to develop skills and abilities as part of your professional development which is why we have a frequent teaching sessions, monthly reflective practice and access to training opportunities
* Protected Supervision We ensure that all our staff have clinical supervision for a minimum of 1 hour protected time every month
* You will be also be allocated a buddy
* All clinicians are supported with monthly case management and have a clear job plan which is regularly reviewed.
* We have weekly team meetings, working within a multi-disciplinary approach.
* We encourage all our team to join the current transformation projects and service improvement working groups


Person Specification

* Full UK Driving Licence
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of competency-based training in a relevant health or social care area PLUS theoretical and practical knowledge to diploma level equivalent, obtained through formal competency training, short courses and experience OR successful completion of approved associate practitioner training or relevant foundation degree.
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* NVQ level 4 or theoretical knowledge and skills at this level
* Successful completion of approved Associate Practitioner Training or relevant Foundation Degree plus one year's experience working with service users with mental health needs
