Overview
Team Leader Care role at Bay View Childcare. Based in Lancaster, you will lead a residential children's home with up to four young people aged 8-18, supporting their social, emotional and behavioural needs in a safe, homely environment.
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Lancaster
Salary: Basic salary £27,803.20, with potential to earn up to £34,523.20 including sleep-in shifts.
All homes are rated either “Outstanding” or “Good” by Ofsted; you will assist in continuous improvement and act as Deputy for the Registered Manager when required.
Reports to: Registered Manager
Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day operations of the Home in the absence of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.
* Support the delivery of care plans for each child, ensuring adherence to pre-agreed standards and timescales.
* Ensure compliance with legal requirements, Ofsted standards, and Bay View Childcare policies.
* Communicate feedback from residents, families, placing authorities, and other stakeholders to the Registered Manager.
* Maintain professional, approachable, and supportive staff culture; model positive behaviour and inclusive environment for the children.
* Coordinate rota, sleeping duties, on-call arrangements, and ensure staffing coverage for shifts.
* Escalate concerns about behaviour or competence of the Registered Manager to the Responsible Individual in a confidential manner.
* Manage budgetary controls within pre-approved expenditure, and support menu planning and procurement as required.
* Lead regular staff meetings in collaboration with the Deputy Manager and foster open communication for continuous improvement.
* Proactively contribute to the Home’s medium-term improvement ideas and annual development plan.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, hygiene standards, and staff conduct at all times.
* Oversee recruitment and performance management processes, including supervisions and returns-to-work interviews as appropriate.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children & Young People (or equivalent).
* Full UK driving licence.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
