This is an exciting opportunity to join the PIERS (Patient Insights, Experience and Registry) organization leadership team as a Senior Director with opportunities to grow. This role is unique with combined strategic and operational leadership responsibilities of the combined technology platforms. These businesses focus on amplifying the patient voice, including supporting patient generated evidence (patient experience data) and registries with life science, medical device, healthcare, health authorities, and patient advocacy groups.
This role will have responsibility for existing platforms including: COA (Clinical Outcome Assessments) Accelerator; Cronos Rater Services Platform; COAS Website Delivery; Quality Metric Licensing platform; HRS (Health Research Space); DHH (Digital Health Hub); Patient Experience and Support Applications (incl. key SmartWatch initiatives); IQVIA Connection; Clinical Insights; FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and interoperability accelerator; and new technology & platforms being developed and acquired. Importantly this role will also be key to the interlock with eCOA and Patient Services. Supports revenue between $150M - $300M.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in shaping strategic, operational and interlock technology strategies and priorities. The individual selected for this role will be partnering internally with Real World Solutions, Research and Devleopment Solutions, Digital Products & Solutions and Regional Business Units, while delivering on key initiatives. These businesses are a combination of Technology Enabled Services, Licensing and Implementation Services, and Strategic Scientific Consulting.
Essential Functions:
1. Strategic technology leadership: defines, develops, and executes the short and long term technology strategies and operating plans for business practices and ensures consistency with global business, corporate and regional objectives.
2. Guiding the technology roadmap across the multiple businesses and segments. Communicates business strategy, major developments, and new initiatives. Operational leadership over the technology platforms including.COA (Clinical Outcome Assessments) Accelerator; Cronos Rater Services Platform; COAS Website Delivery; Quality Metric Licensing platform; HRS (Health Research Space); DHH (Digital Health Hub); Patient Experience and Support Applications (incl. key SmartWatch initiatives); IQVIA Connection; Clinical Insights; FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and interoperability accelerator; and new technology & platforms being developed and acquired.
3. Evaluation and reduction of inherited technical debt.
4. Definition of architecture patterns that solve current business challenges and optimize reuse across IQVIA to improve speed and quality of product development.
5. Partner with PMO/Client Services; Product Management; GTM (Go-To Market), Strategic Science, Licensing and Implementation Services for each practice deliverables including client presentations and client deliverables.
6. Shepherd the IQVIA Interoperability accelerator including FHIR, OMAP (Open Multimedia Applications Platform), EMEA, Japan and APAC interoperability ingestion.
7. Evaluate and recommend technology enhancements to streamline FHIR ingestion to improve throughput, efficiency, and effective ingestion into all IQVIA platforms, both within your area of responsibility and the broader IQVIA interlocks.
8. Partner with Corporate Development on strategic technology insourcing, partnerships and/or acquisitions.
9. Evaluate market and competitive environmental technology, engineering, development and AI evolution and recommend ongoing enhancements to our offerings and platforms.
10. Develop content and approach to report on technology evolution and performance.
11. Liaise and coordinate technology interlock with eCOA, IHP and PCS; patient service; RDS; etc.
12. Coordinate effective and consistent technology operational management review cadence.
13. Collaborate with and influence the RWS, R&DS, DP&S and RBU Leadership teams and other stakeholders on technical business challenges issues and facilitate collaboration and resolution.
14. Creates and maintains a positive working relationship with suppliers, customers, IQVIA teams, and other key sources of information.
Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:
15. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and demonstrated operational or consulting experience.
16. Minimum of 12-15 years working experience, 5 years at the senior management level.
17. Deep functional experience and in-depth knowledge of technology, bio pharmaceutical industry and patient engagement, data ingestion and interoperability a plus.
18. Foundational understanding of managerial accounting.
19. Demonstrated success building effective relationships with a broad spectrum of global stakeholders (e.g., senior leaders, business and technical teams, GTM, and customers).
20. Proven track record in delivery against targets.
21. Excellent management, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and operational skills.
22. Presentation skills, both verbal and written.
23. Proven influencing skills at the senior management level, have the presence and credibility to engage and influence senior leaders across multi-geographies and functions.
24. Strong commercial marketing, general management and financial skills required. Experience as a GM a plus.
25. Knowledge of business and management principles - including planning, process, review, co-ordination of people and resource and operational success measures.
26. Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills and ability to think critically.
27. Very strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
