Overview

As an intern, you will gain crucial industry experience and put your theoretical knowledge into practice. The role is based within the Facilities Management and Real Estate (FMRE UK) organization, a unified "ONE FMRE" team that handles a huge range of deliverables across both Airbus Commercial and Airbus Defence & Space. You will work closely with the wider team, which is responsible for everything from real estate and aerodrome management to major construction projects and maintenance. This is your chance to influence and drive change, support the creation of new technical standards, and lead new digital processes that will improve how our projects are managed.


Responsibilities

* Lead key strategic projects from the initial concept & feasibility studies, developing these into detailed designs & specifications, through to construction phase and final handover to the customer.
* Test and develop project management skills with the support of the Buildings & Construction project team to learn new processes and tools transferable across the entire project spectrum.
* Set up and manage Multi-Functional Project Teams (MFTs) to deliver projects in accordance with the Airbus Project management process.
* Define the project scope by liaising with clients and key business stakeholders.
* Work with architects and other design team members to develop concepts and launch feasibility studies.
* Lead the project MFTs to develop the detailed design of Building Services for a range of projects including major plant replacement and building refurbishment works.
* Develop and monitor a project delivery plan, ensuring all risks and opportunities are identified and managed throughout the lifecycle of the project.
* Manage the Capital Investment business cases from preparing the case, through MFT approval to delivery and project closure.
* Monitor and report financial data to ensure the project spend is on plan and aligned to the approved budget.
* Monitor construction works on site (with supervision) and ensure compliance with technical standards and health & safety matters.
* Prepare reports, presentations and specifications to communicate to key stakeholders in the business.
* Support the move to digitalise the project management tools and processes to enable new ways of working.


Qualifications

* Studying toward a degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Building Surveying, or equivalent.
* Basic project management skills, with willingness to learn and develop according to Airbus tools and processes.
* Excellent IT skills, Google Suite, CAD awareness.
* Good stakeholder management skills, including excellent communication, customer focus and the ability to deliver on commitments.
* Ability to listen, understand and communicate information.
* A strong interest in developing yourself and finding creative solutions to complex problems.
* Ability to make decisions based on evidence and a mindset to explore and improve processes.
* Flexibility in a dynamic environment and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
* Good attention to detail.


Security Clearance

You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role. This role requires awareness of potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity as the foundation for the company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the environment where our aircraft are built.

Salary: £23,400
36 hours per week with flexible working hours, including half-day Fridays. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
