Solicitor – Office of the General Counsel - Contentious work
Flexible on any GTUK location, hybrid/home working available
Our Office of the General Counsel advises on a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious risk issues that arise in delivering professional services across assurance, tax, and advisory areas.
We’re open to flexible working arrangements, including reduced hours and job shares, supporting work-life balance.
Role Overview
As a lawyer specializing in contentious work within our in-house legal team, you will:
1. Handle claims, issues, and projects such as:
* Professional liability claims against the firm
* Regulatory inquiries and investigations
* Professional indemnity insurance
* Litigation, mediation, and other dispute resolution methods
* Other risk-management issues
1. Collaborate with colleagues to provide solution-focused, commercially pragmatic advice to stakeholders, including partners and senior staff.
2. Instruct and oversee outside solicitors, counsel, and experts in disputes concerning professional services.
This role may suit a litigator at a junior or mid-level associate stage at a commercial law firm, but applications from all qualified candidates demonstrating the necessary skills are welcome.
Candidate Requirements
The minimum criteria to join us as a Solicitor are:
* Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in commercial dispute resolution in England and Wales or another common-law jurisdiction
* Good knowledge of law and procedures related to professional liability, preferably concerning professional advisers
Additional desirable skills include:
* Understanding of risk-management issues faced by professional service firms
* Pragmatic, commercial approach with a focus on improvements and outcomes
* Self-motivated with good management of conflicting demands
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Building and maintaining good relationships with colleagues
