CNC Machinist Pay: Up to £38hr (Umbrella) Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire Contract Length: 9x Months Working Pattern: 4x Flex (MondayThursday) Hours: 37.5 per week Security Clearance: Active Clearance Role Overview We are seeking experienced CNC Machinist Specialists to support precision manufacturing within a high-value engineering and defence environment. The role involves producing R&D, one-off, and low-volume production components using advanced multi-axis CNC milling and turning machines, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. This position offers meaningful technical work, exposure to complex programmes, and an excellent worklife balance through a 4-day working week and flexible arrangements. Key Responsibilities: Program, set, prove out, and operate multi-axis CNC machine tools (36 axis) Manufacture high-precision components to engineering drawings and specifications Support development and optimisation of machining processes, tooling, and fixtures Select and optimise tooling solutions, liaising with tooling suppliers Mentor and support team members, including apprentices Diagnose and resolve machine and process issues Prioritise workload to meet delivery schedules and optimise machine utilisation Required Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a precision CNC machining environment Strong CNC milling experience (essential) CNC turning experience (highly desirable) Programming capability using Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidenhain controls Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g. EdgeCAM, MasterCAM, Fusion 360) Experience with 35 axis machining Strong understanding of inspection techniques and precision measurement
