Job Purpose: Supporting the Manager to lead the team, enabling children to engage in a range of play and learning opportunities and to participate in the day to day running of the setting. To link with parents and encourage working in partnership to support learning in the home.
Responsible to:The Manager / Management Committee.
Job Details:£ 16.00 per hour. Hours: 08:00 – 16:00
Mon – Fri Term time only
Main duties and responsibilities:
•To provide and maintain a high quality service to children and working as part of a staff team to meet children’s individual needs.
•To observe and support children with special educational needs. To seek appropriate support and/or work with/alongside external agencies.
•To have strong knowledge & understanding of safeguarding and policies/procedures/legislation related to this.
•To deputise for the Manager in their absence.
Children and Families:
•To ensure high quality early education and care enabling all children to reach their full potential.
•To lead staff on areas agreed by the Manager eg EYFS delivery, SEN.
•To assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of activities to meet children’s needs and interests.
•To work within the EYFS and promote high standards of care for the children.
•To take responsibility for key children and others, ensuring their developmental needs are met, accurately recorded and learning diaries are up to date.
•To maintain a child-centred environment by reviewing displays, resources and room lay out with the team.
•To use observation and reflective practice to contribute to planning and evaluation in the setting.
•To maintain children’s safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance at the setting and on trips.
•To take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and to report any concern immediately to the DSL or Manager.
•To ensure good communication between staff and parent’s /carers.
Staff:
•To work as a positive role model and member of the staff team.
•To line manage staff as agreed with the Manager.
•To attend management meetings with Committee when needed.
•To attend staff meetings, supervision and appraisals and relevant identified training.
General:
•To be responsible for the day to day running of the setting in the Manager’s absence.
•To support on the development of policies and procedures, work within them at all times and to support staff to adhere to them.
•To keep records and provide other administrative support as required.
•To contribute to any quality assurance programmes such as The Bristol Standard.
•To maintain positive working relationships with relevant external professionals.
•To support and develop an environment which is inclusive for all and recognises and encourages diversity.
•To represent the setting professionally at all times, maintaining the settings integrity and being open to giving and receiving feedback.
•To undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the Manager or management committee
