About the apprenticeship
Duties
•Remove, repair and replace vehicle body panels to manufacturer specifications
•Repair both structural and non-structural vehicle body damage
•Refurbish and repair vehicle trim components
•Carry out thermal joining processes including welding
•Use non-thermal joining techniques, bonding and adhesives
•Work with joining technologies such as MIG, MAG, TIG and resistance spot welding
•Identify and correct vehicle body structural misalignment
•Use alignment jigs and specialist equipment to restore vehicle geometry
•Interpret manufacturer repair specifications and follow approved repair processes
•Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition
•Work efficiently to meet quality and safety standards
•Communicate clearly with team members during the repair process
Additional information
This Apprenticeship will begin at Level 2 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician, with the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 qualification once the Level 2 programme has been successfully completed.
This structured programme allows you to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience repairing a wide range of vehicles while developing the technical skills required to become a fully qualified panel technician. You will be supported throughout the Apprenticeship with workplace mentoring, structured training and assessor-led learning.

Qualifications
Due to Apprenticeship funding and qualification requirements, candidates must meet the following criteria:
For Level 2 Apprenticeship Entry
•GCSE Maths and English at Grade D/Grade 3 or above
For Progression to Level 3 Apprenticeship
•GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Grade 4 or above
Candidates without the required grades for Level 3 may still begin at Level 2, with support to progress.
