We’re supporting a specialist analytical instrumentation manufacturer that supplies advanced laboratory systems to customers across the UK and internationally. Due to continued growth, they’re looking for a Service & Support Chemist to join their technical team. What’s the role all about? As a Service & Support Chemist, you’ll be responsible for supporting customers with the installation, servicing, maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical laboratory instruments. This is a field-based role with regular travel, primarily within the UK, with some international visits. You’ll act as a technical expert and trusted point of contact for customers, ensuring equipment performs reliably and customers get maximum value from their systems. Your responsibilities will include: Performing on-site instrument servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance Planning and scheduling monthly service activities Installing new analytical instruments and delivering customer training Diagnosing and troubleshooting instrument faults (on site, by phone and email) Teaching customers routine maintenance tasks using defined checklists Carrying out in-house servicing, diagnostics and instrument assembly Becoming a technical expert across the full product range Producing customer bulletins and technical guidance when required Recording service activity and updates within the CRM system Supporting customer demonstrations and laboratory testing Collecting support data for new chemistry methods Reporting service trends, issues and customer feedback to the wider business Managing travel arrangements, expenses and service documentation This role offers a great mix of technical chemistry, customer interaction and hands-on engineering. What you’ll need To succeed as a Service & Support Chemist, you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline Strong foundation in basic laboratory techniques Understanding of basic electricity and analog/digital theory Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and technical manuals Confidence troubleshooting both chemical and mechanical systems Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and customer-facing) Strong problem-solving and diagnostic ability Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Travel requirements Ability to travel 50–75% of the time Majority UK travel, with international travel as required Full UK driving licence with a clean record Who you are You’re curious, practical and customer-focused.
