Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity in which you will use your drive and vision to provide leadership and direction to the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team in Herts and North London Area. The team you lead will be specialists who work to deliver environmental improvements for water quality, water resources and river catchments. A key focus in the next five years will be working closely with water companies on their investment programmes. Your teams will work with others in our National Directorate to hold water companies to account in their commitments to protect the environment.
Your role will include maintaining the health, safety and wellbeing of your team, supporting them to develop themselves, identifying training needs and managing ways of working to ensure we can meet the needs of future environmental challenges. You will need to balance the work within your team to ensure that they are focussed on the areas that will deliver the greatest environmental benefit.
You will oversee budgets, work planning, and recruitment whilst needing to be flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities.
You will be a role model and promote inclusion by respecting differences in our workforce and build a supportive and engaging workplace.
You will also take an active role in the area for the Environment Agency’s Incident response. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
Team
We’re a team of trusted advisors at the heart of environmental decision making, bringing together internal and external partners to facilitate integrated actions and collective delivery. This team is one of two IEP Teams in the Area, and leads on integrated environmental planning, with a focus on the water quality (with the other team focussing on Water Resources).
