Teaching A-level Sociology (AQA syllabus) to classes of first and second year (year 12 & 13) students at our St Albans campus.
If new to teaching, Oaklands will offer you a structured induction programme, pairing you with an experienced mentor. You will gain broad experience in a teaching environment from student enrolment, right up to results day. In addition to this, we will offer you a range of training and the opportunity to achieve a recognised teaching qualification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
· To teach A-level Sociology in line with the AQA syllabus;
· To plan and develop engaging, comprehensive lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities;
· Manage student behaviour and engagement in line with College behaviour policy
· To set and mark assignments, monitoring student progress and providing feedback to help students improve their performance and prepare them for the A-level exams;
· To maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and grades;
· To write reports and communicate with parents about student progress;
· To contribute to departmental development through participation in curriculum planning, quality assurance, internal verification of student work and professional development activities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· A degree in Sociology or a related field;
· Familiarity with current research and advancements to keep lessons relevant and interesting;
· Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills;
· Skill in explaining difficult ideas in a way that is accessible to students.
