Ian Farmer Associates, a member of RSK Group Ltd, are looking for a Geotechnical Technician to join their team in Washington, Tyne & Wear, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. Suitable candidates will need to be able to demonstrate previous laboratory experience in this field.
Key roles and responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
* Performing a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest level of safety and quality standards.
* Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested.
* Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment.
* Maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
* Ensuring the quality of work produced is to high standards and tested in a timely manner.
* Sample receipt, storage and disposal.
Required experience:
* 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
* Previous experience in a geotechnical or materials testing lab.
* Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately.
* A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures.
* Good IT skills, especially the use of MS Excel.
There will be lots of manual handling involved in the role and will require moving heavy items on a frequent basis.
