Location: Brent, North-West London Job Type: Full-Time | Long-Term Daily Rate: £154.21 – £180.82 PAYE Overview Are you passionate about Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? A thriving, inclusive primary school in Brent is seeking a dedicated Unqualified SEN Teacher to lead a specialist provision classroom supporting pupils with autism in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (Years 1–4). This is a long-term, full-time opportunity, ideal for someone with strong SEN experience who’s ready to step up into a teaching role – no formal teaching qualification required. Key Responsibilities Lead a small, structured class for pupils diagnosed with Autism (ASC) Deliver adapted lessons in Phonics, Maths, and Writing Support pupils with individual education plans (IEPs) Promote communication, social development, and independence Collaborate with the SENCO, senior leadership team, and therapists Oversee and guide a team of four experienced Teaching Assistants Track pupil progress and adapt strategies based on ongoing assessment Maintain a positive, calm, and inclusive classroom environment Student Profile Pupils aged between 5 and 9 years old (Years 1–4) All have a formal diagnosis of Autism (ASC) Includes non-verbal pupils and those with additional learning needs Wide range of academic levels and learning profiles Person Specification – Who Should Apply We welcome applications from: Individuals with a background in special needs or autism education Aspiring teachers seeking SEN experience before PGCE, Schools Direct, or teacher training You should demonstrate: Proven experience supporting children with Autism and complex SEN Confidence managing a small class and working with support staff A calm, consistent, and structured approach to behaviour and routines Excellent communication, adaptability, and team-working skills Passion for inclusive education and a child-centred ethos What the School Offers A supportive, well-established SEN provision within a mainstream primary school Daily support from a skilled team of four Teaching Assistants Access to SEN-specific training and CPD opportunities Close collaboration with a committed SENCO and leadership team Opportunities for career progression – including pathways into teacher training A nurturing school community that prioritises staff well-being Why This Role?
