2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Cardiff – Hybrid
Base pay range: £57,500
Net Consulting is seeking a skilled and motivated Level 2 Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain enterprise technologies across hybrid environments. The role is ideal for professionals with hands‑on experience in troubleshooting Linux operating systems and network technologies. The position is based primarily at a client site in Cardiff with occasional travel to other customer locations. You will be responsible for supporting critical infrastructure components in a fast‑paced, secure environment. You must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance, with potential to progress to Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
Responsibilities
* Provide Level 2 support for Linux and Windows Server environments
* Handle networking: Cisco switches and Juniper firewalls
* Troubleshoot and resolve incidents; escalate when needed
* Monitor system performance and security
* Apply patches, upgrades, and configuration changes
* Maintain accurate documentation and follow escalation paths
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in Level 2 infrastructure or systems support
* Strong troubleshooting skills in Linux and network technologies
* Familiarity with networking (Cisco/Juniper)
* Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
* Ability to work independently and in a team
* Eligible for UK SC/DV clearance
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Awareness of container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift)
* Basic scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
* Exposure to ITIL processes and secure environments
