Overview
I am currently recruiting for a client near Cardiff, looking for a Process Engineer on a 6 month contract.
The role is for an interesting client with a lot of history and will test your abilities in Chemical and Metallurgy engineering.
Duties
* Design, develop, optimise, and scale up processes for the efficient recovery of valuable metals from electronic waste.
* Conduct laboratory trials, pilot studies, and scale-up to production level.
* Monitor and optimise process performance to improve yield, safety, and efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with environmental, health & safety, and quality standards.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting to production teams.
* Prepare process design documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, functional specifications, risk assessments).
* Support commissioning activities, including FAT/SFAT, RAMS, and root cause analysis.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Engineering, Operations, SHE).
* Manage and report on small-scale projects, budgets, and timelines.
Essential Skills Required
* Degree in Process, Chemical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering (or related field).
* Minimum 2 years' experience in process engineering (preferably in metal recovery, chemical, or related industries).
* Hands-on experience with process design, optimisation, and scale-up.
* Strong knowledge of process safety (HAZOP, LOPA, DSEAR, ATEX, Risk Assessment).
* Experience with commissioning processes and troubleshooting.
* Proficiency in engineering calculations, process documentation, and MS Office.
* Strong knowledge of HSE and environmental compliance.
