Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)
Location: Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
Working Hours: 30-37 hours per week (flexibility required)
Salary: £13.38 per hour if unqualified, rising to £14.56 per hour once qualified or if already qualified

Our client is a domestic and sexual abuse charity based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. They provide support to men, women and children affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Role
The post holder will provide a proactive service for adults focusing on high / very high-risk and complex needs victims of domestic abuse, working within a multi-agency framework to ensure safety, support, and appropriate intervention.
Duties include:
* Managing a caseload
* Carrying out risk assessments and safety planning
* Supporting clients through legal processes and the Criminal Justice System
* Attending MARAC meetings
* Collaborating with partner agencies to safeguard clients
Requirements
Essential
* A basic empathy with people who have experienced abuse
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* An ability to work under some pressure and to manage a varied workload effectively whilst adhering to organisational policies and procedures
* Willingness to work flexibly in response to the needs of clients, colleagues, and organisational aims
* Experience in maintaining procedures relating to record keeping and data collection
* A methodical and patient approach to work tasks
* An ability to use own initiative and to make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision within boundaries set by policies and procedures
* An ability to work to appropriate levels of confidentiality
* An ability to establish and maintain good relationships with a wide variety of people
* An understanding of the need to work collaboratively with others – Directors, staff volunteers, colleagues from external organisations, and most importantly with service users and members of the public
* An ability to represent the project by attending external meetings and contributing to discussions
* Commitment to equal opportunities practice
* A good knowledge of the structures operating in the statutory and voluntary service sectors
* Driving licence, business insurance, and ability to travel across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
