Assistant General Manager (AGM) Nortons Digbeth Reporting to: Group General Manager Salary: £34,000 £38,000 (DOE) + Performance Bonus
The Mission As the AGM, you are the operational lead for Nortons. You act with the full authority of a General Manager when the Group GM is off-site. Your primary objective is to manage the complex intersection of high-volume service, live music logistics, and digital compliance. You are the "System Superuser" who ensures the business runs like a clock, even during a 500-capacity sell-out show.
Key Responsibilities 1. Digital Compliance & Systems Management Trail: You own the digital daily tasks. You ensure that opening/closing checks, temperature logs, and fire safety tasks are 100% compliant every day.
Zonal (EPoS): You are the lead for Zonal back-office management, including menu programming, price updates, and staff till-profile management.
Collins & DesignMyNight: You manage the reservations and enquiry flow, ensuring we maximize booth sales and event bookings with a rapid response time.
Xero: You are responsible for the site-level financial "paper trail," ensuring all delivery notes and invoices are correctly uploaded and coded for the Group GM and accountants.
2. Operational Excellence & Safety The "Big Night" Lead: You lead the management team (Bar Manager & Shift Leaders) during peak trading, managing the "flow" of the room and identifying bottlenecks before they impact service.
Security & Licensing: You are the primary liaison for the door team. You ensure all licensing conditions are strictly met, particularly regarding noise levels, capacity, and the "Safe Haven" policy.
Artist Liaison: Coordinate with live acts to ensure sound-checks, riders, and stage timings are strictly adhered to.
3. People & Performance The Rota: You take primary responsibility for the Nortons roster, ensuring labor % targets are met while maintaining the flexibility to share staff with The Anchor.
Training: You coach the Shift Leaders to move away from "admin" and back toward "leading the floor.
HR: You manage the staff lifecycle on-site, from initial interviews and onboarding to performance reviews.
The Ideal Candidate The Tech Specialist: You are fluent in Zonal, Trail, Collins, and Xero. You understand that digital data is the key to a profitable business.
The High-Volume Pro: You have at least 2 years of experience in an AM or AGM role within a venue turning over at least £1m+.
The Professional: You are organized, calm under extreme pressure, and have a "no excuses" attitude toward compliance and safety.
The Leader: You don't just "run shifts"; you develop people. You know how to motivate a team during a grueling Saturday night set.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Trail Completion: 100% monthly score.
Labor Cost: Maintaining site labor within the agreed % of revenue.
Financial Integrity: Zero late invoices on Xero and Safety: Zero critical fails on internal or external health, safety, and licensing audits.
